Leg Injury
ASSESSMENT & DIAGNOSIS

Through our years of experience, we have found that a personalised assessment is a crucial part of the recovery process. We take a thorough history to understand how the pain began and how it affects all aspects of your life. We also ask you about your general health, activity level, lifestyle and goals so we can plan the relevant physical tests in the latter part of the assessment.

Our physical examination begins with screening tests to ensure your condition is not caused by serious injuries. Following this, we carry out a variety of physical tests to identify your problem. These include assessment of the pain area and surrounding structures, joint mobility, integrity of the ligaments, muscle flexibility, strength, endurance and power, sensitivity and conductivity of the nerves and etc. We also look into the postures and movements that you find restricting.

After we gather the findings from the assessment, we will explain to you where the pain is coming from, the factors contribute to your problem and discuss the best treatment options available to you. We will let you know if you require other or additional medical care.

PAIN MANAGEMENT

Abnormalities of the body’s structures are not the sole contributor to the entire pain experience. It is important to understand that pain level can be dial up/down by several factors such as how we move our body, how we think and feel about the pain, our lifestyle and etc. The best way to manage pain is to learn where the pain is coming from and what are the factors contribute to the pain and disability then develop strategies to manage it.

At Physio In Motion, we also include hands-on treatments such as soft tissue release, joint mobilisation and spinal manipulation to relieve pain and restore mobility as well as a personalised exercise program to improve your functional level.

If additional care is needed, we will liaise with other healthcare providers to deliver the most appropriate treatment for you.

EXERCISE REHABILITATION

Exercise rehabilitation is a crucial part of the recovery process. A personalised exercise program can help to restore and optimise your functional level safely and as quickly as possible. We understand that pain can be a huge obstacle for people to exercise; therefore, our physiotherapists are skilled to develop an exercise program that is specific to you. The exercise program may include stretches, strength and conditioning exercises, proprioception and balancing training, movement and sport-specific training.

SPORTS INJURY MANAGEMENT

Our physiotherapists enjoy being physically active just as much as you do; therefore, we are dedicated to get you back to the sports that you enjoy in the safest and fastest possible way.

We believe the best way to manage a sports injury is to ensure you have a clear understanding of your problem, its causes and an estimated time frame required for improvement.

Our Physiotherapists at Physio In Motion offer hands-on treatments and develop a personalised exercise rehabilitation program to manage your problem as well as to improve your sports performance. Towards the end of the rehabilitation, we will carry out a return to sport screening test to make sure you are safe to go back to sports.

We will advise you if you need additional care from the medical team, podiatrist and personal trainers.

INJURY PREVENTION & SCREENING

Prevention is always better than cure. The risk of injuries can be significantly reduced with appropriate knowledge and training program.

Our physiotherapists can help to identify areas that are at risk of injury and provide you with a plan of how to work on the issues. This often involves a personalised exercise program to improve the strength, endurance, flexibility and movement control.

We will advise you if you require additional care.

Most people are familiar with rehabilitation after surgery but not rehabilitation prior to surgery. The time before surgery is valuable and should be utilised to prepare the body for the procedure. There is strong evidence shows that pre-surgical rehabilitation shortens the post-surgical recovery period and results in a better outcome.

Our physiotherapists at Physio In Motion are skilful at developing a pre-surgical rehabilitation program based on the type of surgery you planned. The rehabilitation includes hands-on treatment to relieve pain as well as an exercise program that is specific to you to restore the mobility, strengthen the key muscles and correct unhelpful movement patterns before the procedure.

We understand that rehabilitation after surgery is a long process; however, it is necessary to commit to the whole process to get the most benefit out of the surgery. Similar to pre-surgical rehabilitation program, our physiotherapists provide a range of strategies to help you to control the pain. They also will guide you on the proper techniques to move and plan a graduated exercise program depending on the type of surgery you had. The post-surgical rehabilitation program focuses on regaining joint mobility and strength in the important muscles as well as restoring your functional level.

At Physio In Motion, we communicate with your surgeon to deliver the most appropriate rehabilitation at the most critical time for you. Our goal is to bring you back doing what you enjoy safely and as soon as possible.
